Multiple 911 callers reported a male, who was described as 60 to 65 years old, fell of his bicycle and was unconscious with citizens performing chest compressions.

Prior to the arrival of First Responders, 911 callers reported citizens were performing CPR again after stopping.

Our very own President and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Brian Windsor arrived on the scene and began EMS chest compressions. Joe Gould, Chief 3, from BDVFD arrived with the AED where 2 shocks were given and the patient achieved ROSC.

High-quality CPR, sometimes combined with defibrillation, can be used to try to resuscitate a patient and achieve ROSC.

First Responders from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, St. Mary’s County Emergency Medical Services, and ALS crews responded to the scene. The patient was flown to an area hospital where treatment is undergoing.
